As most of you know, I spend more and more time at the sea. Being close to the crystal clear waters of my home in Washington feels like a necessary antidote to the increasing frenzy of world events, and polarization and infighting in our local communities.
So when I got to Ashdod, I waded straight to the sea, and wept. This is probably the softest sand I’ve ever felt between my toes, and the most cerulean blue waters. On a hot desert day, letting the gentle waves roll me around is akin to being in the womb.
My Israeli friends consider the Sea to be cold this time of year!! But since I’m used to the frigid waters of the Northwest US, I lingered for hours in the water. Hallelujah!
